Top Baby Girl Names Biography
So, you’re trying to come up with baby names. Actually, we are, too! I have eight grandchildren and am expecting number nine this summer. We don’t know yet if we need baby names for girls or boy baby names – we’ll find that out in about six weeks. Of course, I got to choose the baby names for my three daughters, and I had a lot of fun browsing unique baby names for them. I didn’t really choose unusual baby names, however. Instead, I selected some family names, along with some sort of uncommon baby names that weren’t too weird. In all, I got to think up six names – two for each daughter. I was also allowed to participate in coming up with babies’ names for all my grandkids, although I didn’t have the final say-so. For some reason, the parents thought they should have the final word on the baby name in question. What the heck were they thinking? We got to use six girls’ baby names and ten baby boys names.
What baby names were chosen for the grandkids? Several are Biblical names, several are family names, and a couple are just names we liked. Choosing baby names is fun, but it can also be frustrating. It seems hard to find a baby name that everyone in the family agrees on. For example, my youngest daughter named my oldest grandson “Jonathan,” which I’ve never been crazy about. Over time, however, the name has kind of grown on me. My daughter did make up for her “error” when she selected a name I love for her younger son, Tristan.
Please carefully consider your choice of baby names. The kid is going to be stuck with the name unless he has it legally changed when he gets older. If you’re considering very unusual baby names, you might want to rethink that strategy. Kids can be cruel, so you don’t want to saddle children with really strange and unusual baby names. Remember, that tiny baby isn’t going to be a baby for long. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with uncommon baby names or with unique baby names, but try to see down the road a few years and imagine how the baby name you choose is going to follow the child, the teenager, and the adult. If you really insist on an unusual baby name, make it the middle name and call the child by his first name.
I’ve been working on this hub for a long, long time. I’ve kept a running list in a composition book, and whenever I ran across another name, I’d jot it down. I began with family names and names of friends. I thought about authors and literary characters. Television, movies, and music were also good sources. Actually, sometimes I even flipped through the phone book. One of my very best sources for some unusual names, however, was my experience as a teacher. There are just some names you never forget, and anyway, I had a few old class rosters to pour over, too. Believe me – I didn’t include the most unusual names of all!
